Soil Hill + Fly Flatts

Had a walk around Soil Hill today and was quite a
good day, plenty of Meadow Pipits as per usual and
gull flyovers, 2 Kestrel, 2 Whitethroat, 8 Linnet, 2 what
I thought were Twite, Sedge Warbler going ballistic and a
couple of unknown, could be juvenile somethings, 6 Swift,
            1 Dunnock, 1 male Blackbird.

Next up to the Fly Flatts road and the quarries where there
must of been at least 50 Canada's, plenty of Meadow Pipits,
4 Curlew and chicks ( hope they make it) 4 Lapwing, 6 Swallows
1 Little Owl which was nice to watch while it was hunting.

Cromwell Wander

Had a wander around Cromwell Bottom NR yesterday
in the sunshine but not a lot showing which was disappointing,
Whitethroats and Warblers flying about and a juvenile Heron
on the weir, one swallow flyover a few LTT'S up on the hill
and a wren bobbing about, Lagoon had Little Grebe and Mallard
and the Reeds were buzzing with noise from the Sedge & Reed
Warbler but only glimpse's of them and Chiff Chaff sounding off
here and there, but was glad to see a Oystercatcher flypast on the
river, also 2 geese or swan like birds but too far away to tell what
were, they were dark birds nearly black but not canada's.
Butterfly's and Damsel's were showing well.

Garden had 8 Goldfinch, 4 Greenfinch, 2 Chaffinch, 4 Jackdaw,
2 Magpies, 2 Collared Dove, 2 Wood Pigeon.

Claremount Buzzards

Just did a bit of spotting from the garden today and was
surprised but pleased to see 2 Buzzards soaring above
Claremount and stayed a while even though one was being
pestered by Gulls they then circled over the Shibden area.

Garden had Goldfinch, Greenfinch & Chaffinch at the feeders
and the evening before a Roe Deer Stag decided to visit.

Red Kite Surprise

Had a walk around Cromwell Bottom NR early doors
but not a lot showing even though there was plenty of song,
it started well with a Grey Wagtail up by the weir, LTT's,
Chiff Chaff, Willow Warblers, Whitethroat, Wren, Blackcap,
all heard and spotted but not long enough to get a pic of and even a
Sparrowhawk turned up for seconds, Sedge, Reed & Garden
Warblers heard but not seen but plenty damsel flies about, oh and
a Heron was sitting on its nest.

Next I went up to Soil Hill where there was nothing but Meadow
Pipit's until I got to the Ned lane track and there flying through the
valley was a beauty of a Red Kite but gutted I couldn't get a decent
shot of it. Mixenden Res was a Zero so on up to Fly Flatts where
Swallows were collecting for nests, 1 Little Owl, 1 Curlew, 2 Redstarts
2 Kestrels and a Bank vole running across the road that made the end
of the day a disaster 1 more road kill thanks to me I was gutted, I just
couldn't stop in time, so sulking and annoyed at myself I made my way
home to see the newly fledged Blue Tits and Starlings & House Sparrows
& Goldfinch eating on my feeders.

Raven Flyover

9.30 last night 7 Ravens flew over Claremount never seen
as many Ravens, they were flying low as well. I found it a bit
strange to honest but boy are they BIG.
                Deffo not Crows.

Garden full of young Blue Tits now that they've fledged from
neighbours nest box just hope they keep away from the pesky
                cats.
