Cromwell and Cunnery Woods

Been down to Cromwell a bit lately until it gets too busy

and then up to Shibden Park & Cunnery Wood.

Managed to get the Firecrest again and a pic of the Chiffchaff

that I'd heard the week before, lots of Buzzard knocking about

and the Green Woodpecker has been very vocal, Siskin and

Redpoll seem to be disappearing as Ive not seen them for a few

days, the 2 Dipper by the weir have vanished as well, but the river

has got high and fast, a good few Nuthatch and Treecreeper about

the place and plenty of Goldcrest and Wren about as well.

Cunnery wood, surprised me this morning as its usually quiet but plenty

of birds about, Blue, Coal, Great and LT Tits, Dunnock, Goldcrest, Goldfinch,

Mistle Thrush, Blackbird and plenty of Wrens knocking about.

Black Necked Grebe

Had a run out yesterday with my mate RH and found this belter,

the Black Necked Grebe I then got a message that one was at Ringstone

for the first time in 40 years, story of my life lol. Was over the moon to find

it but got to be honest I thought they'd be bigger, was quite surprised at how

small they are but what a beautiful bird, well done to DF for finding the

Calderdale one, a great find by him.

Green Woodpecker at Pepper Hill

Decided to stay close to home today after hearing a Green Woodpecker yaffling

Ive heard it for a few days and seen it in flight a couple of days, so up Pepper Hill

I went, Goldfinch, Chaffinch and Blackbirds were seen and then I spotted this

little beauty, shame the lighting was poor but beggars can't be choosers and was

well happy at seeing it, so close to home too.
