Osprey in Action
Fantastic to watch this superb bird at work
and Howard C, 3 Grey Wagtails, 3 Cormorant, 15 Goldfinch, 6 Swallows, Sparrowhawk
hunting, Kingfisher and this fantastic Osprey only the second time seeing one so close and
the first time it was at nighttime so to get clear views and to watch it fishing was brilliant.
the weather held up nicely and there was plenty to see, I was chuffed to see
the Bittern flying over twice but couldn't get a decent pic of it which was a
shame but still great to see it, Spoonbill showed well and a couple of distant
Cattle Egret were seen
the evening, plenty of Meadow Pipits about and Skylark, 3 Curlew and gulls,
no Ring Ouzel that I'd seen during the day, was hoping to find the Black Redstart
that had been seen up there but with the Sparrowhawk about anything could've
happened, it actually snatched a Wren that I was photographing right from under
my nose, its wing actually hit me on the head, the Long Eared Owl then showed
for about 5 minutes which was great to see it hunting.
view of the Cetti's Warbler, cracking little reserve with plenty to see, Green woodpecker
was there as soon as we got out of the car, not a big reserve but plenty to see.
Chiffchaff, Redshank, Buzzard, Kite, Little Owl, GSW, Gadwall, Garganey, Wren
among the other birds we seen there
this year, this is the male the female was seen by me and DJS but too far
away for a decent pic, 5 were seen up at Wainstalls and 4 at Bradshaw Fields
on the day I was with JL and AC both these fella's are doing a great job at
spotting birds lately they've taken up the void that Daniel B left behind.
Thanks for your hard work you two.
Sorry not getting on blog as much but having a lot of trouble uploading
pics onto sites, something wrong with computer but I haven't a clue why.
