Kestrel Family

     Had a watch over Pepper Hill and enjoyed

     watching a family of Kestrels hunting 3 birds 

     to be exact, they turned up every couple of hours,

     they kept at it even though they were forever

    getting pestered by Crows & Magpies.

   

Wainstalls This Morning

   Took  a trip upto Wainstalls this Sunday morning to try

   find the Wryneck, was in luck as it was seen by PS and 

  myself within 10 mins of being there but didn't stand long

  enough for a pic, 3 hours later and still no show but was

 still great to see although briefly and heard a couple of times.

 Nice to meet other birders up there DF, AC, AT, PS, HC and 

 Vicky & Niall and a few others. Never met HC before although

 I'd heard of him with him being an experienced birder and what

a pleasure it was to meet him, what a great fella.

Other birds seen were Sparrowhawk causing havoc, Kestrel hunting,

Meadow Pipits, Blackbird, Robin,  Canada Geese and Goldfinch

flying overhead.

Pepper Hill

 

   Took a trip out yesterday to Rodley & Adel Dam but

   was surprised how quiet it was at both reserves, Hides

   weren't open at Rodley and Adel seemed to be in 

  disrepair it looked sad which was disappointing.

  Buzzard, Marsh Harrier, Sparrowhawk were seen

  by the river and Little Grebe on main lake at Rodley

 and also 3 Cormorant. Adel had 3 Kingfishers flying

 over the lake and a distant Heron and a Blackcap in

 berry trees and a Jay in the woods.

 Pepper Hill proved to be better, with Swallows & House 

Martins gathering, lots of Goldfinch, 8 LTT's, Greenfinch,

Chaffinch, Bullfinch, Blackcap, Dunnock and a Hawk calling

loudly but couldn't be seen and a Kestrel hunting well until

disturbed by the pesky Magpies.

Top Hill Nature Reserve visit

Took a day trip to Top Hill Nature Reserve yesterday

with my mate Roy H.

Not a lot about to be honest with the weather being

so hot and what was about were a long way off, 

but still managed to get a few shots, shame the 

Marsh Harrier and Kingfisher were at a distance.

Barn Owl at Pepper Hill

 Nice to see a Barn Owl on Pepper Hill a first for me 

seeing one there so I was over the moon it was there

on the evening and next morning but not seen since

nether the less it was great to see it gliding and diving

and only a mile from the town centre.
