Today's Outing to Rodley

   
     Took a trip to Rodley Nature Reserve today in hope of
     getting a glimpse of the Great Egret that has been seen
     there over the Bank Holiday, but it wasn't to be my day
     but still an enjoyable walk at least once the downpour
     decided to stop.

     Kingfisher came out to play to let me get a few pics at least,
     Sparrowhawk was in trees but could I get my camera to get
     lock on it, No Way it wasn't having it so all I ended up with
     was twigs and leaves, Treecreeper was bobbing about in the
     trees though very dark, 8 Ltt's were flying about and about
     20+ Swallows were hanging around on the lines, I also seen
     a first for me, a female Moorhen attacking a Black Headed
     Gull for about 5 minutes pecking and kicking it and at one
     point jumped on the gulls back to peck at it, well done Moorhen
     I say, and a juvenile Bullfinch all orange was a new one for me
     too, Cormorant and Herons were in the trees.

   Garden had Goldfinch, Greenfinch, Collared Dove, Robin,
   Chaffinch and Kestrel in the back field, 8 Pigeons coming
   everyday and I think are keeping the small birds away, but
   the Sparrowhawk is around everyday and yesterday could of
   had a great shot of it as it glided above the garden in the sun
   and then landed on the fence but no camera at hand so no pic,
   shame though, Peregrine also flew overhead.

    Nice to be out with camera again as not been out in a while because
    of pain in Achilles Heels and computer playing up so not been able
    to download pics, anyway here's some more that Ive taken recently.

    Garden as had plenty of birdlife with Siskin and Linnet popping in
    regular along with Peregrine and Sparrowhawk everyday overhead
    and a couple of times on the garden fence, Kestrel also in the back field
    every other day. it was also great to see 2 Stoat in Cunnery Wood.

Mixenden Whoopers

   I was undecided today whether to stay local or
   go further afield but after a call off of BS my mind
   was made up as he had found 8 Whooper Swans at
   Mixenden Reservoir, so off I went with fingers crossed
   that they'd still be there and luckily they were, looking
   all majestic in the sunshine.
   Lots of Treecreepers were in the woods along with LTT's,
   Chaffinch, Robin and Blue Tits, Canada's and Mallard were
   on the water, I then nipped up to Castle Carr where their was
   a Little Owl and 3 Skylark and 2 Kestreland that was it.
   Garden had Brambling , Blue and Great Tits, Goldfinch,
   Dunnock, Blackbird, Wren, 4 Collared Dove and 3 Ferals.
 
   Claremount Hill had a light Coloured Raptor flying low and
   fast but couldn't pick out what it was, but it certainly made
   the garden birds and Wood Pigeon and Mistle Thrush scarper
   for their lives.

 

Brambling is still here Yeessss.

     Brambling is still in the garden this morning
     along with Green & Goldfinch, Dunnock,
     Blue Tits and Blackbirds, Green Woodpecker
     on Claremount Hill along with 2 Kestrel and
     2 Skylark.

 

Brambling Visitor

   I was  well chuffed yesterday morning,  after going to Adel
   hoping to see some Brambling but having no Joy, my Birthday
   present was in the garden trees a bloody Brambling, special
   occasions seem to work in my garden xmas day I had Lesser
   Spotted Woodpecker and Birthday morning a Brambling also
   in the garden were LTT's and one without a tail never mind a
   long tail, Gold and Greenfinch were also on the feeders.
   It turned up again this morning with the Goldfinch.
