This birding lark is hard work at the poor weather and the
bird life being quiet, went for a walk around Ogden and had
a stroll up to back lane 1 Goldeneye was on the water and the
rest were Mallards and BHGulls and Common Gulls , around
the lake was quiet 4 Robins, 2 Dunnocks, 3 Blackbirds then up
to Back lane which proved a little better with 4 Fieldfare, 3 Wood
Pigeon, 2 Mistle Thrush and a singing Chiff Chaff, and a Brown Hare
in one of the fields which was nice to see.
Roper Lane had nothing in the fields and Raggalds flood had just a
few gulls and the garden had 12+ Goldfinch, 1 Blue Tit and lots of
Crows and Gulls in the back field.
I then decided to venture further afield and went over to Rodley
Nature Reserve which has took a beating from the recent flooding
and todays constant rain won't of helped even the lakes were quieter
than usual but I did get to see my 1st Bittern even if it was just a glimpse
before it snook back into the reeds.

Soil Hell & Ogden
Took a trip up to Soil Hill today in the wild winds and it felt
like I was on Mt Everest, bumped into Dave S who was gutted
that he deleted some cracking photos by mistake, we seen a couple
of Skylarks, 2 unidentified ducks flew past, and 4 Fieldfare before
John L turned waving a glove that he'd recovered after losing it the
other day, we then seen 2 Meadow Pipits before the wind got even
stronger so me & John decided to go down to Ogden Water and Dave
went home for a cuppa which was the best move all day, Ogden was
very quiet and no sign of Kingfisher, 7 Robins were seen by us and
a blackbird then John spotted the best find of the day a Goldeneye that
tried to avoid us at all cost, 2 Dunnock by the tea room, we then went
up back lane but nothing but Magpies & Gulls & 5 Wood Pigeon, I then
gave up and went home and John carried on over Ogden Golf Course,
8 Goldfinch on feeders in garden and a report of a Water Rail down at
Cromwell Bottom Nature Reserve. Oh and a Kes at soil hill as well.
John L looking happy

Quiet Shelf Moor
Took a drive around Shelf Moor after work but it was
bereft of bird life apart from Crows & Magpies but about
150+ gulls in the field by the side of the golf course and my
garden had 10+ Goldfinch.
Some photo's of Birds of Prey seen seen locally in 2015-:
Pics of Hen Harrier, Peregrine and Merlin missing as wasn't quick
enough to grab my camera.
