Mother's Day Birds

Didn't get out today with it being Mother's Day but looked
out of the window to see what looked like a large Raptor
soaring over Halifax being mobbed by crows it then flew
over Claremount and on towards Swalesmoor, all the time
being harassed by the pesky crows, I got a photo of it but
it looked like a Sparrowhawk which surprised me as it
seemed a lot bigger in the distant clear blue sky, it was
      still nice to see though.

Garden had the regular Goldfinch, Chaffinch and Collared
Doves visiting with other birds being Blackbird and a nice
visit from a Bullfinch & 3 Greenfinch and 1 Wood Pigeon.

Sutcliffe Wood

I had a wander down to Sutcliffe Wood today for a couple
of hours while the sun was shining, lots of birds singing
but not many showing but it was still an enjoyable stroll,
22 species seen and it was nice to have a Greenfinch &
Bullfinch visit the garden along with Goldfinch & 6
Collared Doves, birds seen on my walk were--:

Blackbird, Blue Tit, Bullfinch, Chaffinch, Collared Dove,
Crow, Dunnock, Goldfinch, Great Tit, Greenfinch, Jackdaw,
Jay, Kestrel, Magpie, Mistle Thrush, Robin, Feral Pigeon,
Skylark, Sparrowhawk, Starling, Wood Pigeon and Wren.

Yesterday a Buzzard flew low over Claremount from over
the town centre going towards Northowram  but couldn't get
my camera ready quick enough, reports of Whooper Swans &
Golden Plover being seen here and there around Calderdale and
a Hen Harrier flyover at Cromwell Bottom, I was meaning to go
to the Calderdale Bird meeting but my body has been whacked
lately with night shifts and then day shifts.
