Week to Forget

Took a walk around Swalesmoor & Shibden Valley on
Sunday and it seemed like 3 hours of my life wasted as
it gruesomely quiet, well saying quiet might not be the
right word as the wildlife was about as it was heard or
at a far distance, my garden was actually busier with birds.

Swalesmoor had 4 Meadow Pipit and 8 Grey Partridge,
bottom of Ringby Lane had House Sparrows, Goldfinch,
and Chaffinch and a Greater Spotted Woodpecker heard
but not seen, but the top of Hag Lane was busy with birds
but hard to see as it became very dark, Wren, Dunnock,
Blackbird, 8 Bullfinch and a flock of LTT'S were about,
4 Redwing and 2 Fieldfare were in the distance, some
Greylag Geese also on the walk around, and that my
friends was about it, a very soul destroying walk.

Garden had 30+ Goldfinch, Chaffinch, Collared Dove,
Starlings, Great & Blue Tit, Stock Dove and a Sparrowhawk
flypast, a Deer was seen on a walk later in the week.
Oh I forgot also a few Robin seen.

Garden Watch 25/10/18

Decided to have an hours garden watch today after work
and see what the dull skies would bring in, pretty quiet to
be honest and nothing came through on the grapevine either.
20+ Goldfinch, 10+ Starling, 1 Dunnock and 1 Kestrel in the
back field also an unid'd flew over, Id put some fruit out hoping
for some Redwing to pop in like they did last year but time will
tell. A Chaffinch also payed a visit.

Walshaw and Cold Edge Areas

Took a trip up to Walshaw Moor today but to be honest
nothing much was showing, I was hoping to find Crossbill
and Fieldfare but only got the Crossbill flying into the middle
of the plantation and didn't show to be photographed.
3 Buzzard and 4 Kestrel were about in the Raptors, Goldfinch,
Siskin, Great Tit, Robin and 8 Partridge were seen up there.

Cold Edge Dam area had 14 Greylag and 50+ Canada Geese,
Wainstalls had 2 Little Owl, and a Barn Owl was seen on my
travels, Fly Flatts had 2 Kestrel, I think the Raptors have nearly
finished off the vole population up at Fly Flatts.
A BIG shout out to the landlady at the Pack Horse for letting me
use their Car Park, lovely woman.
