Good Deed for the Day

The garden and back field have had plenty of Raptor action
in the last couple of days, Kestrels hunting, Sparrowhawk
fly through everyday, Peregrine flypast every other day, it
maybe because of the gathering of Collared Doves and feral
pigeons that have decided to descend on the garden, 10 Doves
and 8 Ferals along with the regular finches.

A juvenile Chaffinch flew into the daughters window last night
so I had to climb unto the window sill to retrieve it, the poor
thing was in a bad way but still breathing so I put it in the garden
and kept my eye on it hoping it would recover, it didn't look good
as there was blood all around its face and wasn't moving much, I
then decided to bring it in the house and put it in a box with some
food and water and it was also warmer and safer for it if it was to
stand a chance as the neighbours cats were scouting about and the
Magpies were looking menacing, kept it in there for an hour checking
every 20 mins and the bird started to improve so I then put ut in the
garden again, it was trying to eat and walking but still no wing
movement which wasn't good so brought it back inside, funny thing
was it seemed to know I was helping as it just walked and perched on
my hand to put it back in the box, I gave it another couple of hours in
a dark and quiet spot checking every 20 minutes again, it was trying to
eat sunflower seeds and some dog food I put down for it and also drinking
water which was a really good sign but I was still worried about its wings,
As I was watching TV I heard fluttering from the box so took it outside
took off the tea towel that Id covered the box with, the bird gave me a
glance and then up and off she went flying the nearest bushes although
I still kept my eye on it as it had only flown 10 yards but after 5 minutes
it took off again and flew into some trees a good distance away,so I was
well pleased with this happy ending. Good news it turned up again today.
